Chatted with some incredibly enthusiastic readers at NovelTalk last night. Saw some familiar faces/names. Thank you so much for coming! Have you ever been involved in a real time chat? I guess that's what 'chat rooms' are like. I never go to those. Only scheduled writers chats. I have enough diversions, thank you. Anyway, it seems like everyone in the world types faster than me! It's especially hard when you're the featured author and you're trying to answer a question, meanwhile the discussion continues. I can't read and write at the same time! That's right. I'm a slow typist AND I have to look at the keys as I type. Self. Taught. Ah, well. At least I use all of my fingers... except for my thumbs... and pinkies. Are you supposed to use those??
At any rate, my typos and one flustered long moment where I couldn't figure out how to copy/paste my book blurb aside... I had a fabulous time! Kerri the moderator said chats average 10-15 people. I averaged 25-35! How cool is that?! Some people had read me, some people said they hadn't but would, and some people had even read CB Scott and were unaware I was the B of CB! So that was cool too.
Sometimes I get so wrapped up with creating the work, so focused, so obsessed, that I lose sight of the finished product. Of the fact that people are actually reading my books. Or maybe I don't think about it because it's too easy to worry that people aren't reading my books. Last night was proof that they are. What a rush. I really need to get out more often.
Loved coming to your chat last night, B. You're right. You have fans that are definitely reading -- and loving! -- your books. (As well they should, my friend.)
